<p>Establish the reasoning that governs every later decision: the paradigms that decide what a code is a code of, the architecture that turns codes into categories and themes, and the memoing and abductive work that turns a coded dataset into a defensible theoretical claim.</p>
<p>Make the software work analytically rather than clerically: project architectures that can answer comparative questions, queries and matrices used to test interpretations rather than illustrate them, genuine mixed methods integration, and a defensible position on project portability and AI-assisted coding.</p>
<p>Work with approaches that treat form, language and structure as data rather than as packaging: narrative analysis of accounts as told, the discourse analytic families and their evidential standards, and two structured alternatives, IPA and the framework method, with opposite strengths.</p>
